Suspected Chlorine Leak Forces Evacuation

A possible leak in a 150-gallon chlorine tank at a water department pumping station led to the evacuation of four homes in Camarillo late Saturday afternoon, a Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman said.
The department sent a hazardous material team to the site at 4:30 p.m.
Traffic was directed around the pumping house at Los Posas Road and Ponderosa Drive until about 7 p.m., when the hazardous materials team was able to shut off the valve, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
No injuries were reported.
