Man Fatally Shot While Walking on Street

SANTA ANA — A man was fatally shot Thursday night after an argument with two suspected gang members.
Eleazar Urbieta, 31, and his girlfriend were walking in the 500 block of North Mortimer Street about 8:50 p.m. Thursday when the two men approached them, Lt. Bob Helton said.
The woman left her boyfriend to get their car and the two men argued with Urbieta, who also was believed to be a gang member, police said.
Several moments later, one of the men fired at least two shots at the victim’s chest and ran away, Helton said. Witnesses told investigators the men appeared to be gang members.
Paramedics rushed Urbieta to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he died a half-hour later, police said.
The woman told police she didn’t know the assailants, but that Urbieta had appeared to know them.
