Tornado Damages Homes, Disrupts Power

OROVILLE, Calif. — A tornado touched down Thursday in the southern part of this Central Valley city, damaging about a dozen homes, Butte County officials said. No injuries were reported.
The twister was spotted about 2:30 p.m. near Las Plumas High School.
About five homes sustained serious damage, including one that lost its roof. The tornado also broke windows, damaged fences and caused a short power outage to about 250 homes, said Fred Svetz, Butte County emergency services director.
