HACIENDA HEIGHTS : 7 Arrested and Half-Ton of Cocaine Seized in Raid

More than half a ton of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $50 million, was seized during a raid on a Hacienda Heights home Sunday afternoon, police announced Tuesday.
Seven men were arrested during the raid, which was the result of a months-long investigation by Southeast Cities Against Narcotics and the the Los Angeles office of the state attorney general’s narcotics enforcement bureau, South Gate Police Lt. Andrew Key said. SCAN is made up of investigators from police departments in Bell, Downey, Maywood and South Gate.
Three handguns and a car were also seized in the 3 p.m. raid, Key said. All seven men were charged with conspiracy to transport cocaine and possession of cocaine for sale, Deputy Dist. Atty. Susan Bryant-Deason said. Bail was set at $5 million for each suspect. A preliminary hearing for the seven will be Feb. 26.
