VALLEY-AREA ROUNDUP : Miller Lifts Westlake Into Tie for First

Westlake High forward Billy Miller scored six of his 14 points during the third quarter Monday night to break open a tight Marmonte League game and give the host Warriors a 62-53 win over Agoura and move them into a first-place tie with the Chargers and Thousand Oaks.
Westlake (15-5, 9-3 in league play) outscored Agoura (15-5, 9-3), 20-8, in the third quarter. Sophomore Steve Aylsworth of Westlake scored a game-high 20 points.
Simi Valley 72, Royal 61--Stuart Clarke, Nathan Simmons and Vernon Simmons each scored 13 points for the Pioneers (16-7, 7-4) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.
North Hollywood 87, Sherman Oaks CES 52--Damon Ollie scored 28 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the Huskies remained undefeated in the Valley Pac-8 Conference.
Birmingham 63, Monroe 59--Birmingham junior Scott James scored 15 points and Marc Fernando added 13 in Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Birmingham (6-10, 3-4).
Notre Dame 80, St. Bernard 57--Knight guard Tommy Zapata scored 22 of his game-high 28 points in the second half in a Mission League game.
Grant 71, Canoga Park 60-- Ron Patterson scored 25 points for the Lancers in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
Poly 72, Sylmar 66--The Parrots rallied from a third-quarter, 17-point deficit using a full-court press in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Alemany 49, Harvard-Westlake 27--Sophomore Carly Funicello scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Indians in a Mission League game. Samantha Rigley and Kelly McKay added 11 points each for Alemany (22-0, 11-0), who clinched the Mission League championship.
