Investigators in Thousand Oaks were searching on Sunday for suspects in two weekend holdups that took place in quiet residential neighborhoods within an hour of each other.
Police said James Kevin McGuire of Thousand Oaks was approached about 11:15 p.m. Saturday by a man carrying a handgun as McGuire walked along the 2100 block of Dawn Court. The suspect demanded money but fled on foot when McGuire said he had none, police said.
At about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, two men approached Leon Martinez Islas, also of Thousand Oaks, as he was walking in the 2600 block of Calle Manzano. Police said one of the men held Islas while the second took his keys, wallet and an undetermined amount of cash. Islas told police he thought the suspects had a handgun. Both suspects fled on foot before Islas reported the robbery to police, investigators said.
Authorities do not believe the robberies are related.
