VENTURA : County to Purchase Site for Health Clinic
- Share via
Moving forward after months of delays, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved an agreement to purchase a building owned by Texaco for the new site of the west Ventura public health clinic.
Convinced that environmental concerns at the site would be addressed, the supervisors voted unanimously to purchase the building at 133 W. Santa Clara St. for $1.3 million.
Public works officials told the board on Tuesday that after extensive negotiations Texaco agreed to pay to remove asbestos ceiling tiles and clean up soil contamination from underground fuel tanks at the site.
The building will serve as the new site for the West Ventura Family Care Clinic, now operating in tight quarters at 110 N. Olive St. in Ventura.
