Pacifica Ties County Record for Scoring

GARDEN GROVE — Tonie Mascarenas and Colleen Morris each scored four goals as Pacifica tied the Orange County single-game girls’ record for goals in a 17-0 victory over Santiago in a Garden Grove League soccer game Tuesday at Pacifica.
Valerie Downen had five assists for Pacifica (7-4, 5-2 in league) and Sara Brown and Joy Guenther each scored two goals. Pacifica led, 10-0, at the half.
The Mariners tied the mark of 17 goals set by La Quinta in the 1984-85 season. Temple City holds the Southern Section record with 19.
