Earthquake Causes Hold on Trout Plants
Because of road closures and other problems associated with Monday morning’s earthquake, Department of Fish and Game trout plants scheduled this week for Los Angeles County reservoirs--which come from a hatchery in Fillmore--have been put on hold indefinitely.
A spokeswoman at the Long Beach office said it has not been determined when the planting would resume. Trout stocked in Orange, San Bernardino and San Diego county waters come from a hatchery in Mojave, and stocking programs were not affected by the earthquake.
Fishing reports were not available at some locations because of lack of telephone service.
