Why while away the hours listening to the latest tape-recorded best seller when you could be learning to speak Tibetan?
A three-volume, 18-cassette set, “Fluent Tibetan: A Proficiency Oriented Learning System,” is new from the University of Virginia and an 11-member team of Tibetan-studies scholars, graduate students and native speakers.
“Fluent Tibetan” is based on a method developed by the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute for diplomats who need to learn a language quickly. The book-and-tape set is published and distributed by Snow Lion Publications of Ithaca, N.Y., and costs $250. Shipping is extra. For information and orders, call (800) 950-0313.
