Fraise Is Third in the McKnight

Cobblestone Road scored a major upset in the $150,000 W.L. McKnight Handicap and longshot Fabulous Frolic won the $100,000 Tropical Park Derby for 3-year-olds as Calder Race Course closed its 50-day winter meeting on Sunday.
Cobblestone Road, a 29-1 shot, led for the entire 1 1/2 miles on the grass, holding off Daarik by 1 1/4 lengths. Fraise, the 1-2 favorite, was third, 1 3/4 lengths behind Daarik.
Going into the Grade II race, Fraise, ridden by Chris McCarron, had earned $2,265,605 in 25 starts, while Cobblestone Road had earned $160,994 in 38 races.
Cobblestone Road, ridden by Jose Ferrer, was timed in 2:27 4/5 and paid $61.20, $22.80 and $6.60. Daarik paid $5.80 and $2.40 and Fraise paid $2.20.
Fabulous Frolic won by 1 1/2 lengths over Wake Up Alarm, the 2-1 favorite.
Fabulous Frolic ran 1 1/8 miles on the grass in 1:46 4/5 and paid $33, $10.60 and $7.60. Wake Up Alarm returned $4.40 and $3.80 and Gator Back paid $5.60.
Poolesta came from behind under Robbie Davis to beat Raise Heck by a nose in the $100,000 Interborough Breeders’ Cup at Aqueduct.
