English Channel Tunnel Fare Set: Motorists traveling through the tunnel between England and France may need something more than a sense of adventure. A fat wallet, for instance. The Sunday Times reported that the round-trip fare for taking a car through the tunnel will be about $240. From May to June and October to December a standard round-trip ticket will sell for about $240 per car, rising to $330 to $360 during the busiest tourist season, the newspaper said. The fares for the 31-mile Channel tunnel, nicknamed the Chunnel, would be slightly more expensive than those for much slower ferries, but low enough to plunge ferry operators into a fare price war, the newspaper reported. Passenger service will begin in May.
