L.A. City Council Pay
I was shocked to read that the L.A. City Council members earn over $90,000 a year (Nov. 10). That is more than 29 of the 50 state governors earn. Gov. Pete Wilson receives $114,000, although he is entitled to $120,000. And members of the U.S. Congress earn $125,000 a year.
If Los Angeles is in such dire need of funds for police, schools, etc., maybe the City Council should consider a major pay cut. It would really help the city if they voted to take a 50% pay cut, which would bring their salaries more in line with their jobs as public servants.
