Robin Romeo of Van Nuys won the second major bowling title of her career and a $20,000 first-place check by defeating amateur Tammy Turner, 194-191, in the championship match of the $115,000 Sam’s Town Invitational at Las Vegas.

Romeo, who won the U.S. Open in 1989, needed three strikes in the 10th frame to shut out Turner. But she left an 8-pin on her second shot to give Turner an opening. Turner then left the 2-pin on her first ball.
