Ashrawi to Head PLO Mission in Washington

AMMAN, Jordan — Palestinian peace negotiator Hanan Ashrawi has agreed to head the Palestine Liberation Organization’s new mission in Washington, PLO officials said Saturday.
Ashrawi rose to international fame at the 1991 Madrid peace conference as the chief spokeswoman for the Palestinian delegation.
Ashrawi, an English literature professor at Birzeit University on the West Bank, will assume her new post in December, officials said.
