Toronto became the first major league team to top $50 million, paying its players $51,575,034, up from $49,427,166 in 1992, according to data which was distributed by the Player Relations Committee to general managers at meetings in Naples, Fla.

San Diego was at the bottom, paying its players $12,842,333.
