Occidental and Claremont-Mudd set an NCAA Division III record for total yards in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game won by Occidental, 68-42, Saturday at Claremont.
Occidental had 753 yards, Claremont 642 for a combined total of 1,395, eclipsing the previous record of 1,360, set by Millikin, Ill., and Wheaton, Ill., in 1983.
Brian Madlangbayan ran for 202 yards and four touchdowns, and Davin Lundquist had 200 yards and two scores for the Tigers, 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the SCIAC.

Third-string quarterback Albert Razo connected with tight end Travis Hall for a 50-yard touchdown pass play on a fake punt in the fourth quarter as Cal State Northridge (3-5) recorded a 21-7 victory over Cal State Chico in a nonconference homecoming game at Northridge. Robert Trice rushed for 108 and a touchdown for the Matadors. . . . George Marquecho rushed for 163 yards to lead Whittier (4-4) to a 45-14 victory over Menlo (0-6-1) at Whittier. The Poets rushed for a school-record 438 yards. . . . Anthony Jones scored two touchdowns in overtime to lead Redlands (6-1, 3-1) to a 23-17 SCIAC victory over Cal Lutheran (4-3, 2-2) at Cal Lutheran.
