FULLERTON : Police Warn About Phone-Sales Scam
The Police Department is warning citizens of telephone solicitors who claim to represent a law-enforcement publication.
One resident was called last week by someone who said he was selling advertisements in an “Official Publication of the Law Officers.”
No such publication exists, but the woman was duped into sending a check for $95, according to Juanita Juarez, community services officer.
Juarez said many residents want to show their support for the police and are tricked by phony solicitors.
Residents can check with the police before giving money to an organization that claims to represent law enforcement, Juarez said. Her phone number at the department is (714) 738-6836.
