Police Seek Leads to Shooting Suspects

Police are asking for help in locating suspects in a Sept. 25 drive-by shooting of a 64-year-old woman in the 1900 block of South Birch Street.

Elvira Arteaga was shot in the neck while standing in the driveway of her home. Santa Ana Police Investigator Mark Nichols said Tuesday that she was the victim of a gang-related shooting that erupted between occupants of two vehicles near her home.

Police are looking for a late-model, teal green Chevrolet pickup truck with tinted windows and wide tires, which was occupied by three men in their mid- to late 20s.

The second vehicle is an older, full-sized, four-door car, possibly a late-’70s Chevrolet Nova or Oldsmobile Cutlass. Police believe that there may be bullet holes on the off-white exterior. The occupants of the car were two men in their early 20s, with very short hair.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Nichols at (714) 647-5165 or (714) 834-4801, day or night.
