SAY IT AIN’T SO: Like everyone else, Pop Eye adores the little bee girl from the Blind Melon video for “No Rain.” So we were crushed to hear Christopher Thorn, the band’s guitarist, gleefully tell during a recent interview of plans to do away with the cuddly, tap-dancing character.
“The bee girl will be crucified in our next video,” he said. “She’ll get hit by a truck. In the next scene she’s cut up with knives. Then she’s like poisoned and battery acid gets poured all over her. Every sick thing you can imagine, that’s the next video.”
But seeing our shocked and crestfallen expression, Thorn confessed that plans for the “Tones From Home” video are really nothing of the sort.
“I’m just (kidding) you,” he said. “I don’t think a lot of people would probably appreciate that plan. But we do want to pull away from that. We don’t want to be known 10 years from now as the band that had the bee.”
