Defending Prop. 13
* I get a large charge out of the whiners who blame Proposition 13 for all the state’s problems (Walter Fisher, Letters, “Education and Prop. 13,” Sept. 27).
As one on a fixed income that has declined over 30% due to inflation since I retired 18 years ago, I would be on the indigent rolls were it not for this initiative. Furthermore, Prop. 13 has become irrelevant.
In my tract neighborhood where I retired, I was unable to find more than a handful of original owners. And like myself, they’re not long for this world.
I have tried to communicate this fact to the heads of our state and some of the representatives. No reply. JAMES SHOURT
