MIAMI — A New York City man was shot to death on a Florida highway Sunday night, and police were looking for the gunman.
The incident occurred on Highway 826 near Miami about 8:30 and appeared to be a random drive-by shooting, Metro-Dade police officials said.
“There apparently is no motive,” said Metro-Dade Lt. Juan Del Castillo.
The victim, identified only as a New York City man, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by relatives, police said. The relatives drove him to a hospital, where he was dead on arrival, Del Castillo said.
The relatives described the gunman as a white Latin male and said there was no attempt at robbery.
The shooting was the latest in a spate of attacks on visitors in Florida, where nine foreign tourists have been killed by robbers in the last year.
