Documentary Film Series at UCLA

The 12th annual Contemporary Documentary Series begins Oct. 5 in UCLA’s Melnitz Theater with the Academy Award-winning short documentary “Educating Peter” and the feature-length film “The Donner Party.”
The series is presented jointly by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Foundation and the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
“Educating Peter” is a short film about a child with Down’s syndrome and his first year with classmates who do not have the condition.
“The Donner Party” is about the ill-fated group of pioneers who resorted to cannibalism to survive in the Sierra Nevada; the film’s producers will be present to discuss the film.
