USC lost freshman fullback Taso Papadakis for the season in its 49-7 victory over Houston on Saturday.
Papadakis, whose father, John, was a 1970 and ’71 USC linebacker, suffered a dislocated wrist and had surgery that night. He was playing No. 3 fullback, behind starter Deon Strother and backup Rory Brown.
Defensive end Elic Mahone (shoulder) and tailback Dwight McFadden (ankle) also are sidelined for the season.
Sidelined for Saturday’s game at Penn State because of injuries: cornerback Jesse Davis, offensive tackles Len Gorecki, Keith Siscel and Andre Abrams; tailbacks LaVale Woods and Conrad Coleman, defensive end Germaine Gray and guard Dong Koo.

John Robinson wasn’t the only head coach saddened when McFadden suffered a broken ankle against North Carolina.
“I lost my best hurdler,” USC track coach Jim Bush said.
“He would have had an outstanding season this spring. Now, he’ll never hurdle again. He’ll have to spend next spring getting the ankle ready for football.”
