After a three-month investigation, Long Beach police have arrested two teen-agers on suspicion of murder in the Memorial Day slaying of a Long Beach bicyclist.
Police released few details, saying that the investigation is continuing, but a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, believed to be the gunman, were arrested late Wednesday after officers obtained search warrants for several locations.
William Shadden, 26, the son of a prominent Long Beach family, was shot to death as he fought to keep the two youths from stealing his bicycle. The slaying of the popular graduate student and part-time gondola operator was the first in 12 years in the seaside Belmont Shore section of the city.
