Police in Brea and Anaheim have made a series of arrests in separate prostitution “sting” operations at local motels, authorities said Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, Brea police conducted a sting at the Hyland Motel, 700 S.Brea Blvd., and arrested a 22-year-old Huntington Beach woman on suspicion of prostitution.
Police began an undercover operation with the cooperation of motel management after receiving a tip that acts of prostitution were taking place at the motel.
Susan Marie Harrison was arrested after she allegedly solicited an undercover police officer. She was said to be working for an escort service that police are still investigating.
Also arrested was Larry Allen Overturf, 30, of Chino, on suspicion of aiding and abetting an act of prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Harrison is being held without bail at Orange County Jail. Overturf was cited at Brea Police Department headquarters and released.
In Anaheim, police arrested Harshadbhai S. Patel, manager of the Scottish Inn, last week on suspicion of allowing prostitutes to use his motel on West Lincoln Avenue.
Patel’s arrest comes two months after Priti Bhaktas, manager of the Madrid Motel, also on West Lincoln, was convicted on charges of operating a house of prostitution.
