SANTA ANA : Man Shot in Head While Driving
A 20-year-old Santa Ana man was on life support Wednesday after being shot in the head while driving on Bristol Street, police said.
The victim, Andres Toscano, was driving south on Bristol Street near Warner Avenue with three passengers at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when the shooting occurred, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Don Robertson said.
“As they were passing Warner, a white car approached them from behind,” Robertson said. “The white car pulled up along Toscano’s car, words were exchanged, then a passenger inside of the white car produced a handgun and fired two shots.”
Toscano, who was struck by one of the bullets, lost control of the car, veered across northbound lanes of Bristol Street and crashed into a curb. No one else in the car was injured.
The white car, which was filled with males and females, was last seen driving east on Central Avenue. No arrests have been made.
Toscano was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Police said the shooting was gang-related.
