SIMI VALLEY : Elderly Offered Health Screenings
A county nurse will offer free health screening for older residents on Tuesday at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.
The nurse will review senior citizens’ medical history, evaluate prescriptions and encourage healthy lifestyles and good nutrition. If a potential problem is found, the nurse may urge a visit to a physician.
“Some of the things that are encouraged are podiatry visits, dental visits and to have their hearing checked,” said Marilyn Billimek, coordinator of the county’s public health nurse program.
The county nurse will be able to check a limited number of senior citizens at the center between 9 a.m. and noon. Interested residents are urged to make an appointment by calling 529-2060, Ext. 5918, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today or Friday.
