OUTLOOK
Coach Mark Miller, record-setting running back Jeff Byrd and Leon Vickers, the league’s defensive player of the year, are gone. The Case era begins with a sophomore, Frank, starting at quarterback. “John’s had a great summer and he’s progressed a lot,” Case said. “This is the year to start a sophomore with an big line.” Kevin Allen, a converted receiver, replaces Byrd, who had 2,596 yards in 1992 . “If (Allen) gets out in the open, he’s gone,” Case said.
