College Puts Students in Ivy Leaf of Their Own

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Smith College is welcoming new students to the halls of ivy with--cultured ivy.
All 850 newcomers to the women’s school will receive their own three-inch potted ivy plant from the campus botanical garden. School officials said they decided on the gift as a fitting introduction to the bucolic, ivy-covered campus in Northampton.
