A Fullerton man and his two passengers were injured early Tuesday after their car slammed into the rear of a stopped vehicle and burst into flames, police said.
The driver, Michael Chang, 26, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, police said. He is not related to the professional tennis star who lives in neighboring Placentia, police said.
Police said that the driver of the vehicle Chang crashed into drove away from the scene. Authorities don’t know if anyone in the vehicle was injured.
Chang and his passengers, Heung Choy, 31, address unknown, and Chang Lee, 36, of Buena Park were driving west on Garden Grove Boulevard when the accident occurred at Golden West Street about 4:25 a.m., said traffic investigator Al Brackett.
Chang was listed in fair condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Choy was in stable condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
