Re “Eastern Exposure” (July 8): It was especially refreshing and satisfying to read an unbiased article on the nudist lifestyle and the efforts of naturists to secure the use and designation of public beaches for nude recreation.
Nudists have long been harassed and persecuted by police and right-wing groups. Edwin Meese, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan, Charles Keating and even U.S. Chief Justice William Rehnquist have denounced nudity as evil in their attempt to dictate their views of morality.
Your published account will dispel many misconceptions and untruths about the naturist movement.
