CALABASAS : $1.7-Million Contract OKd for Ramp Work

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $1.7-million contract this week for the widening and improvement of the Parkway Calabasas on-ramp and off-ramp on the south side of the Ventura Freeway.
The project, expected to get under way in October, will include widening the ramps and installing a storm drain system, curbs and lights for safer driving at night, said county Department of Public Works spokeswoman Donna Guyovich.
“This is quite a big project, but it’s needed because of the increased traffic,” Guyovich said. “The whole thing is going to be paid for by developer fees, to offset the growth in the area.”
The work, which will be performed by Ray Wilson Co. of Pasadena, is expected to be finished by next May. Officials probably will award a contract to widen the ramps on the north side of the freeway before the first project is finished, Guyovich said.
The southbound off-ramp to Parkway Calabasas may be closed at times during construction, Guyovich said. Some lanes of Calabasas Road may be closed during the work, but the project should not affect traffic on Parkway Calabasas and Mureau Road, she said.
