TEAM TENNIS : Dukes Rally to Beat Wichita, Stay Unbeaten
The Dukes remained unbeaten in World TeamTennis play by rallying to defeat the Wichita Advantage, 26-24, Friday in Wichita.
Trailing 23-20 heading into the final set of the match, the Dukes’ Trevor Kronemann and Katrina Adams won in mixed doubles, 6-1, defeating T.J. Middleton and Lori McNeil.
The Dukes (13-0) travel to play the Kansas City Explorers tonight, and if Newport Beach wins, it would be the first franchise in league history to finish the regular season unbeaten.
Wednesday, the Dukes clinched the West Division title with a 26-25 victory over the Phoenix Smash.
“I thought we might get a little flat since we already clinched,” Duke Coach Greg Patton said. “But this team is like family and they really push each other. Heading into the match tonight, we were saying, ‘We got to make history.’ ”
