OJAI : Picnic to Celebrate Demise of Landfill
The Coalition to Stop Weldon Canyon dump is planning a picnic today to celebrate the demise of the landfill.
Picnickers will meet from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bates Beach between Ventura and Santa Barbara for a bring-your-own, trash-free dinner, coalition organizer Ellen Sklarz Shapiro said.
The group also plans to announce a name change, to the Coalition for Environmental Education.
In its new form the group plans to develop recycling education programs, Shapiro said.
