Schools Can’t Overcome the Seeds of Hate
* This letter is in response to “O.C. Man in Hate Plot Had Gun Dealer Permit” and “Links Among O.C. Suspects Still Unclear”(July 17). How ironic that Josh Lee, suspected hate-crime weapons supplier, graduated from Mater Dei. With all due respect to their education faculty, I cannot help but wonder what this church-affiliated private school is doing regarding implementation of the state Department of Education’s “Moral and Civic Education” framework.
In truth, this only serves to illustrate what educators and many parents already know--that education begins in the home, and no well-intended school, public or private, can overcome the seeds of hate already sown.
