In Brief
* * 1/2 Eleventh Dream Day, “El Moodio,” Atlantic. Guitarist Rick Rizzo offers some convincing details of turbulent relationships and fading ideals here, but at times his songs outdistance this Chicago foursome’s guitar-dominated approach. Rizzo is the band’s premier songwriter, but when drummer and spouse Janet Beveridge Bean joins him on writing and vocals, an emotional depth evolves that recalls X’s more-tempered work from the latter ‘80s.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
