CAMARILLO : Families’ Feud Erupts in Attack With Bat

A long-simmering feud between two Camarillo families erupted with a 70-year-old patriarch arrested for slugging another man with a baseball bat as relatives watched, authorities said Friday.

Alfred Allen Marshall was booked into Ventura County Jail late Thursday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was later released and is expected to be arraigned in Ventura County Municipal Court on Thursday.

Witnesses told detectives Marshall used a baseball bat to strike 64-year-old Hector Singh in front of Singh’s residence in the 400 block of Mission Drive in Camarillo about 7:50 p.m. Thursday.

Singh was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital where he was treated for a black eye, sore shoulder and bruises. He was later released, officials said.

Sheriff’s Detective Will Hammer said the fight stemmed from hostility between the two men’s relatives, but he would not say what prompted the attack.

“Mr. Marshall wanted to talk about it, so he walked up to Mr. Singh’s house, and the rest is history,” Hammer said.
