Strawberry Was Possible Skinhead Target

Darryl Strawberry was among the prominent blacks that white supremacists allegedly talked about killing, but the Dodger outfielder was never warned by federal authorities.

The FBI and prosecutors said no warnings were merited because the threats were not serious, unlike those directed at the Rev. Cecil Murray of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church and police beating victim Rodney G. King.

Fourth Reich Skinhead leader Christopher D. Fisher, 20, and two juvenile members of his group were among eight alleged white supremacists arrested Thursday.

Skinheads identifying themselves as Fourth Reich members said Strawberry was discussed as a possible target.

Strawberry said he was surprised his name came up and noted that he owns several weapons.

“I’ll just keep my gun with me,” he said. “I don’t trust nobody in this world no more. If my name’s coming up in stuff like that, then I know that I can’t trust nobody.”
