One by one, Dodger players, coaches and trainers spotted Ann Meyers Drysdale on the field Thursday afternoon during batting practice and greeted her with hugs.
Only three days after a memorial service that attracted about 900 friends, family, former teammates, fans and broadcasting colleagues, Don Drysdale’s widow was right back at Dodger Stadium with her young sons.
Donnie, 6, and Darren, 3, took batting practice against bullpen catcher Todd Maulding, who knelt between the mound and home plate and lobbed the ball underhanded. Manager Tom Lasorda played pepper with the children during regular batting practice.
The Dodgers will honor the memory of Drysdale and Roy Campanella before tonight’s game.
