New England Man Slain in North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A 28-year-old Massachusetts man was shot and killed outside an apartment complex, police said Thursday.
Officers found Randall Shropschire of Quincy, Mass., dead in front of the apartment house at 5302 Cartwright Ave. early Wednesday morning, Detective Steve Hooks said.
Shropschire and David Johnson, 26, a producer, were returning to Johnson’s apartment about 2:45 a.m. after an editing session on a rap video at a Hollywood studio when Shropschire was fatally shot in the upper torso, police said.
Johnson was questioned but released because of insufficient evidence to connect him to the slaying, said Hooks, who declined to elaborate on the police interview with Johnson.
A motive for the shooting remained undetermined Thursday.
