ORANGE — A patrol officer helped save a 10-month-old boy who was pulled unconscious from the bottom of a home swimming pool Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The toddler was listed in stable condition at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange. His name was not available.
He apparently fell into the pool about 3:30 p.m. at a house on Woodstock Avenue, where his mother was baby-sitting another child, Officer Richard West said. She discovered the child face down at the bottom of the pool and pulled him out, police said.
Officer Jim Foster arrived at the home a short time later, before paramedics, and began to clear the child’s mouth in preparation for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The baby began breathing and paramedics then took him to the hospital.
Police said they will conduct a follow-up investigation, but they do not think any crime was committed.
