Mary G. Berner Named Publisher of TV Guide: Berner had been the magazine’s associate publisher. Under her leadership, TV Guide reclaimed its position as one of the top consumer magazines in terms of advertising revenue, the magazine said. Berner, who will continue to hold the additional title of vice president, began with TV Guide in March, 1989, as advertising director. She will continue to be responsible for advertising sales, promotion and research. She succeeds Joseph W. Cece, who was named in May to an executive post at TV Guide’s parent, News America Corp.
