O.C. Teams Second in Volleyball Event

A pair of boys’ volleyball teams from the Balboa Bay Club each finished second at the U.S. Junior Olympic Championships held Sunday in Kansas City, Mo.
The 18-and-under team was beaten in the title match by the Torrance Volleyball Club, 15-8, 15-4. Balboa had beaten Puerto Rico, 15-8, 8-15, 15-11, in the quarterfinals and Pacific Palisades, 15-12, 4-15, 15-13, earlier Sunday.
Pacific Palisades beat Balboa’s 16-and-under team, 15-11, 15-8, in another championship match. Balboa had defeated Puerto Rico, 15-7, 15-4, earlier in the day to reach the final.
