World IN BRIEF : INDIA : Violence Flares in Kashmir; 19 Killed

At least 19 people were killed in India’s Kashmir region in a fresh bout of violence linked to the uprising against New Delhi’s rule, officials said. The dead included eight suspected rebels killed by border guards while trying to enter from Pakistan, the officials said. At least six other suspected militants also died. The others included two civilians, two unidentified men and one paramilitary soldier.
