Northridge Man Killed in Head-On Accident
A 63-year-old motorist died Saturday when he swerved into oncoming traffic in Winnetka, police said.
The man, who was not identified pending notification of his relatives, died instantly at the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Lanark Street at 4:45 p.m., said Officer Roger Stewart of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
“We don’t know what caused him to swerve, but he is the party at fault,” Stewart said.
The man, a resident of Northridge, was heading north on Tampa Avenue when he crossed over into southbound traffic, Stewart said. Three other cars were damaged in the accident, but no one else was injured, he said.
