SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Valedictorians Are Honored by District
The Capistrano Unified School District has honored nearly 90 graduating seniors from the district’s three high schools, all of whom share the title of valedictorian.
Since 1987, the district has honored any student as valedictorian who achieves a cumulative grade-point average of 4.0 or higher, possible by receiving A’s in advanced-placement courses.
During a Board of Trustees meeting last week, the valedictorians were presented with plaques recognizing their “diligent efforts toward unusual academic achievement.”
Seven of the students--Jeffrey Byers, Allegra Lee, Howard Liu, Jacob S. Okun, Gregory Bredthauer, Malin Chaipat and Matthew Niel Smith--were also recognized during the meeting as 1993 National Merit Scholars.
