Pole vaulter Sergei Bubka will be leaping for his 17th outdoor world record tonight in the IAAF Golden Gala Grand Prix at Rome. A dozen Olympic gold medalists will be competing, including Canadian Mark McKoy in the 110-meter hurdles, Lithuanian Roman Ubartas in the discus and Britain’s Sally Gunnell in the 400-meter hurdles.
