LOS ANGELES : 32 Groups Share $500,739 in Olympic Fund Grants

The foundation that distributes surplus funds from the 1984 Olympics on Monday awarded grants totaling $500,739 to 32 organizations offering sports programs for Southern California youth.

Grants and program disbursements since 1984 total more than $50 million. The largest new grants from the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles were $75,000 to Girls Inc. of Carpinteria, $65,209 to the California Handicapped Skiers Foundation and $56,880 to the Constitutional Rights Foundation.

In addition, as part of a $1-million fund to aid groups affected by last year’s riots, the foundation gave $47,274 to the First African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Los Angeles Renaissance Project, $18,370 to the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles and $5,000 to the Long Beach Poly Junior Athletic Assn.

Other grants included $41,358 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Long Beach, $26,031 to the Southern California Soccer Officials Assn., $25,254 to the Antelope Valley Boys and Girls Club, $17,350 to Rancho San Antonio in Chatsworth, $17,162 to Hathaway Children’s Services in Sylmar, $16,765 to the Pacific Lodge Boys Home in Woodland Hills and $14,586 to the LeRoy Boys Home in La Verne.
