Thief Makes Getaway With Officer’s Bicycle
Associated Press
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Like so many civilians, Officer Mark Sofia figured that it couldn’t happen to him. After all, he was only running in for coffee.
But leaving his patrol bicycle unlocked last week turned the law officer into a crime victim.
“This is a lesson for everybody. It even happens to police,” said Sgt. Bob Johansson, the bike patrol coordinator.
Police believe that the thief, who has not been caught, did not know it was a patrol bike. A few hours after the theft, they received an anonymous call telling them where they could find the bike.
